Course Objectives
The main objective of the course is to teach all the necessary topics in order pass the A+ Certification Examination with flying colours. The course is designed however around a practical hands-on approach to PC Repair and trouble-shooting to ensure all attendees receive real world practice at completing the tasks they will be tested on during the examination and so master the fundamentals of PC hardware and the DOS/Windows system software.

Course Audience
Technicians and users wishing to prepare for the A+ Hardware & Software Examinations and who need to gain an in-depth knowledge of PC configuration for support and installation of PCs.
Course Overview
The popular A+ certification for PC technicians was established in 1993 by CompTIA – The Computing Technology Industry Association. The aim of the A certification is demonstrate a basic knowledge of supporting microcomputers. The certification is achieved by taking two computer-based multiple-choice examinations.
The A certification is widely recognised in the computer industry, and significantly improves a technicians ability to secure and keep employment. The course consists of two modules – a hardware module which explains the components of a PC, their configuration, function and installation in addition to providing a solid understanding of operating systems and the use of boot files, virtual memory, device drivers, TSRs, system errors and general system troubleshooting.

The second module covers Windows and DOS in more detail adding to the core module’s foundations to ensure a proper understanding of configuration and boot files (such as config.sys and) as well as covering the proper setup and installation of devices to run in a Windows or DOS environment. The exam also includes a number of questions regarding system optimisation including memory management, caching and power management.
